Limnio Kikones
"Limnio" is considered the most ancient Greek variety with an uninterrupted presence from ancient Greece until today. It originates from Lemnos where it is called " Kalambaki", but outside Lemnos it is called " Limnio" .It is mentioned as wine or grape in ancient texts by varius philosophers of Ancient Greece. Aristotle mentions it as a variety of grape with a very strong tast, while the ancient Greek historian Herodotus who lived in the 5th century BC describes the wine from Limnio as a rich sweet wine that is highly valued by the Greeks. Finally, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, wrote about the beneficial properties of Limnio wine, recommending it to help digestion and relieve sore throats.
Ruby colored with purple hues. On the nose plums, sweet cherries, cinnamon, clove, coffee, cacao and blond tobacco. Full - bodied, melted soft tannins, mellow liquorice with a touch of mint.
